Raku Field Trip to Kickwheel Sonoma
Members-Only Raku Firing at Kickwheel Sonoma
Date: Saturday, May 17
Time: 10am–4pm
Location: Kickwheel Sonoma – 5400 Old Redwood Hwy N, Petaluma, CA
Hosted by: Uncle Paul’s Ceramics Studio
Embrace the Fire at this one-day Raku firing experience, designed just for members of Uncle Paul’s. In this outdoor, hands-on workshop at Kickwheel Sonoma, you’ll explore the spontaneous, smoky magic of Raku—from glazing to flame to finished piece.
Glaze and fire 3–5 of your own bisqued pots (tall, narrow forms preferred; large/wide pieces may fire later in the day)
Participate in every part of the firing process
Walk away with dramatic, one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces
No prior Raku or firing experience is necessary. We’ll provide all materials, safety gear, and guidance. Just bring your bisqued work - any clay we use at Uncle Paul’s will be great for Raku! Chloe suggests using bmix for more dramatic results - and a readiness to play with fire.
Extras:
Homemade lunch available for purchase (Kickwheel’s owner Andrew is famous for his amazing sandoes and tacos!!)
Partners and well behaved dogs are welcome
Studio members only – space is limited
Getting There
After registration, we’ll coordinate transportation leaving from both Haight and North Beach studio locations. If you can drive or need a ride, we’ll help make sure everyone gets there.
